Become A Jury
Jury play a key role in the successful delivery of Powerchair Hockey competitions. They oversee the operational and regulatory aspects of tournaments, ensuring that events are conducted in accordance with the IPCH Regulations while supporting fair, consistent and professional competition management.
Working closely with the Technical Delegate, Referees, Classifiers, Safeguarding Officer, Local Organising Committee and team representatives, the Jury helps ensure that competitions are managed efficiently and that regulations are applied consistently throughout the event.
Jury Member Responsibilities
Jury Members are responsible for the regulatory oversight of competitions and the application of the IPCH Competition Regulations. Their responsibilities include:
- Managing official match documentation and competition records.
- Overseeing competition procedures and ensuring compliance with the IPCH Competition Regulations.
- Operating the Speed Control process in accordance with the Competition Regulations.
- Handling protests, appeals and disciplinary matters.
- Interpreting and applying the Competition Regulations consistently and impartially.
- Supporting the Technical Delegate and other competition officials in the delivery of the event.
- Working closely with referees, classifiers, team representatives and the Local Organising Committee to ensure the smooth operation of the competition.
Jury Member Eligibility
Jury Members are typically individuals with a strong understanding of Powerchair Hockey, its regulations and the international competition environment.
Candidates should have:
- A good understanding of Powerchair Hockey and its competition environment.
- Knowledge of the Rules of the Game, Competition Regulations and IPCH regulatory framework.
- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with teams, officials and Local Organising Committees.
- Professionalism, integrity and the ability to make impartial decisions under pressure.
- Good command of both spoken and written English.
Previous experience as a player, coach or team official at national level is recommended. Participation in international competitions as a player or member of a team delegation is considered a strong advantage.

Education & Development
The Jury Member education pathway combines theoretical education, mentoring and practical experience.
After completing the theoretical component (online or in presence), candidates may be appointed as a Jury Trainee at an international competition. Working alongside experienced Jury Members allows trainees to develop their practical knowledge and gain experience in a real competition environment before completing the certification process.Through education, mentoring and practical experience, Jury Members can progress towards serving at IPCH-sanctioned competitions.
